Considering what most people celebrated yesterday, I would be remiss if I didn’t say……HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I hope you all had wonderful turkey dinners, and stuffed yourselves silly! LOL This is one of those times that I say “go for it” with the food, since, after all, the main celebratory activity of Thanksgiving is EATING.
The other part of Thanksgiving is found within the holiday’s name….giving thanks. And, though it’s not specifically mentioned in the U Love definition, being thankful is certainly a major aspect of living a life of U Love. Because we are in the season where we are reminded to be thankful, let’s look more closely at what this means.
Being thankful generally includes not being grumpy. (My mom talked about not being “grumpy” in her post, “Are We Grumpy When Life Gets Bumpy.”) Whining and complaining seems to go hand in hand with grumbling and complaining. I’m not proud of it, but I admit, I’ve whined and complained at times in my life. Sometimes, it’s quite easy to get so caught up in our own wants and needs that we neglect to look at the big picture in life, and think about what’s best for others.
If we truly desire to show U Love, we’ll consider putting aside self focus in order to concentrate our efforts on the good of others. I find that when I consider mostly my own wants, I can easily become disgruntled about what I do not have in life. Instead, when I put others before myself, I end up feeling quite uplifted. It changes my whole spirit. I feel greater freedom to be thankful from deep within my heart because I’m not concentrating so much on what will make just me happy. I notice then that U Love abounds more in my life.
Also, if we really want to be thankful, we’ll understand that God U Loves us so very much. We can trust Him to work out any challenges in our lives. In this case, we can accept whatever condition He has us in, and trust Him as well as His plan for us. We can always be thankful for God’s perfect U Love and will for our lives. When we’re in the center of God’s U Love, we can be thankful and not grumbly because we can know that God is orchestrating everything out for us with our best interest at heart! Now, that’s something for which to be thankful, wouldn’t you say?
In fact, finding contentment and thanksgiving in God’s U Love can greatly help us to look on the bright side of life. We can have confidence that God is in complete control of everything. Yes, I said everything. Let’s trust that in His U Love, God only wants to bless us.
I know that taking this viewpoint on life isn’t always easy, especially in the midst of hard times. I have some friends who are currently experiencing severe life trials consisting of issues like job loss, extreme health problems, and family crisis. These things are quite hard to face. But, if we can muster up trust and hope in God, than we can still be thankful in the midst of difficulties. We can trust that God will get us through whatever we’re facing, no matter how difficult the situation may be. We can know that somehow God will work things all out together for good, making us stronger in the end.
So, what do you say we do our best this Thanksgiving season to be grateful to God for wherever He has us in life, and for the things He has done for us? This attitude will, in fact, naturally make life sunnier as a result, which may actually cause us to WANT to be thankful! This year for Thanksgiving I’m putting on my “Thankful U Love lenses”! Will you join me? We wish for you a blessed holiday season!
