It’s Not Me, It’s He

From Rebecca:

Do you ever feel that when you try extremely hard to do something, you just can’t seem to do it very well? I know I’ve mentioned this before. I’ve talked about how doing things in my own strength doesn’t always get me to the goal I so desire to achieve. However, when I relax and rest in God’s strength, and let Him work through me, I find I can soar above and beyond my highest expectations. The key is that, whatever I am facing, God is with me. Well, this same idea applies to how to show U Love to one another.

Normally, showing U Love to others (even those who are unkind to me) comes easily to me. But, with a few certain people, it can be somewhat of a challenge for me to show U Love to them. With those few, I have to definitely push myself to show U Love, more so than with most people where it naturally flows out. How about you? Are there ever times where you try hard to make yourself feel love towards a particular person, but you just can’t seem to get your “Love-Meter” above zero? I admit, I’ve struggled with that here and there in my life. Do you ever strive, and cry out to God about how you really want to be able to U Love that certain person, but you feel like it’s so difficult!

Well, have I got good news for you!! I’ve come to the realization that any burden I may feel of trying to get myself to show U Love is not really on my shoulders after all. What if I told you that there is a very easy solution to this whole predicament, which requires little effort on our own part, and achieves brilliant results in the end? Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Not at all!

Here’s the way it works. I know I can’t achieve much in my own strength, but I can do everything in God’s strength. Why wouldn’t that principle apply to showing U Love? It’s simple. I have to stop thinking about having to show U Love in my own ability. Picture this whole process as follows:  God loves you so lavishly and unconditionally that when yoGod loving through usu openly receive it, that love fills your entire being. Then, HIS love that is now in you, naturally overflows within you and gushes forth to those around you. In essence, you then end up showing U Love to others without you having to exert much energy at all.

In fact, you really don’t have to work hard at all to show YOUR love to others, because it’s really God’s love flowing through you that shows love to those around you. The main thrust of U Love that you give to others, is really God’s love, touching others through you….and all you have to do is relax, receive God’s love, and let Him do all the work. Pretty cool, don’t you think?

See, if we open ourselves up to receive the abundant love from God that He sends to us, it’s almost impossible for that bounty of love not to overflow to others. Try to stop a raging flood. You can’t. But that’s what God’s love is like, a torrent of love from heaven. When you let that love flood into your heart, you won’t be able to keep it to yourself!

Hurts and offense thrown in our path suddenly won’t matter that much anymore. We become so full of God’s love that we’ll WANT to let it flow out to others, because we have found the fulfilling love of our Heavenly Father. Loving the unlovely won’t feel like work, and it won’t feel burdensome….because it’s really God loving others through us. Does that make sense?

And, in fact, ideally isn’t it God’s love that we want to show others anyway? Because God’s love is perfect and ours, as imperfect humans, is not. Think of it this way. We end up being able to show a more powerful and perfect love to one another…… because it’s really God’s U Love working and loving through us.

So, relax! Take a load off! And, next time you encounter a person that you feel like you’re having trouble U Loving, just take a deep breath and remind yourself that you’ve got God’s flood of love pouring out from you. Then, as you let God’s love work THROUGH you, it will allow U Love to pass onto that person, without you having to TRY so hard. Voila! You’ll have a love bath going on before you know it! See ‘ya!
